Hey Community, have any of you ever used a red camera before? If you have, I have some questions about how to use it. I've been putting off shooting in HD for as long as I possibly could but it looks like it's the future whether I like it or not. I don't know much about it so I wanted to get some perspective. If you know anything about it let me know. THANKS!!!!! |

Thanks Anna! This is very helpful. Are you a filmmaker? Have you ever used the red? |

No, I meant that I haven’t used those cameras. You are right that the future is high quality on the digital. Some people have even started making professional videos with photo-cameras with large lenses. (I cover many arts, and so I would say domestic filmmaker. For the travels and things I do I find at the moment more useful lighter video-cameras. Making music is at this moment my favorite art.) I wrote to your email just in case you want help on your indie projects as you are interested in focusing into right reasons. This is in fact my number one concern. I wrote the other day another “little speech” on this matter.
Thank you! |

I totally agree Anna that when it comes to Indie projects, people should be in it for the right reasons. They're sure not in it to be rich or make any money at all! |

Yes friend, however I do think that Indie projects and Large projects will marry. They are already married into the art world, but separated into the social world. People don’t appreciate the efforts of the large projects; they just say “this is good” or “this is bad”, or “the actress this” or “the actress that”… So, the large projects just want the money of people and do not really care about the appreciation and the welfare of the hard work and love that many have put in there. Regardless of glamour around, radiation of pure love is in constant decrease. This is need and fight onto film industry and people. Indie projects lack publicity but they should not imitate the large ones. When done to support, help and inform of big causes and things in need for all, they become bigger than any other project. Regardless of money around, radiation of pure love is in constant increase. This is happiness and union onto the world. Some “poor power-points” have been seen by millions in few days and produced lots of brilliant tears and smiles as if a “Ben-Hur” was there. They focused on friendship, love, wisdom and nature, and were shared among friends as if free wonderful and beautiful candies… Some unhappy beings after seeing Avatar on the theater were only saying that “the effects were good but the tale was bad”. Is this a fare summing up? …as I was saying Indie projects and Large projects are predestined to marry soon. -Other thing: as far as learning about the red cam, the best is to handle, use and play with one on your own. It is better and great to learn the tricks, forms and modes by yourself. Cameras teach better than teachers. (Do not delete any trial-take for there can be hidden jewels in there.) Thanks! |

I have found the best way of learning the ins & outs of cameras, {or any equipment for that matter], is to PLAY WITH IT! Show no fear, feed it as many tapes or other media as it takes, read the docs & see what every combination of every button & knob will do.
Then try to go farther. It is the greatest feeling to create something new, and be able to let others in on your 'secrets'. |
