Hey Makingof community, it looks like there has been a lot of talk about summer movies on this board, but I'm curious, what are your most anticipated movies of the upcoming fall season? There are some really interesting ones coming out. My pick is Buried with Ryan Reynolds. I saw it at Sundance and it was fantastic so I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays with a national audience. It might be the movie that proves Reynolds can act............

I'm really looking forward to The Social Network for three reasons: 1) Fincher is directing, 2) Trent Reznor is doing some of the soundtrack and 3) Aaron Sorkin's writing the screenplay. Couple that with the muted, somewhat dark trailers that have been released, and it's an "opening night" movie for me.

For sure on "Social Network." I'm also looking forward to The Adjustment Bureau and Devil (the latest Shyamalan project). Maybe that isn't such a good thing anymore!

Oh, what about Aronofsky's latest film "Black Swan," starring our very own Natalie Portman? It looks really intriguing, and Aronofsky always delivers when it comes to tight, intimate character studies. The only problem is that I can't find a release date (maybe it's getting pushed back?). Does anyone know?

It's being shown at Venice and Toronto Film Festivals early fall.

But still no release date...I'm really hoping for the fall season.
Hope this is helpful.

That is! Thanks Jazzy. I know we're covering TIFF for the site -- maybe I'll try to tag along.

For me I'd have to say "Megamind" if we're talking Fall. Though I'm in my 20's I'm not afraid to admit that I still enjoy nearly every animated film that comes through theaters. And really, can you go wrong with Wil Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Brad Pitt?!?!

Also the movie "Freakonomics." Loved the book when I read it (though I need to read it again and refresh my memory) and am looking forward to see how they put the film together.

In terms of drama, Ben Affleck's "The Town" is the one I'm looking forward to most after seeing its incredible trailer. "Red" shapes up to be a great action flick, and "The Fighter" and especially "Black Swan" sound like memorable fall movies at this point.

I know Woody Allen has worn out his welcome with a lot of people, but anytime one of his films come out (which is once a year, and has been that way for the majority of his career -- talk about the hardest working man in show business!) I see it. So, You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger is on my Fall list too.

For me it is definitely the "Black Swan".

Glad to see Making Of got the trailer up.

Considering the film, the director, and the star actress looks to be a work of real artistry.

The trailer doesn't disappoint.

Hope the film is as intense as the trailer, guess Sept. 1 we'll find out.

This really does have Venice written all over it, and definitely where I'm going to see it.

That's the first time I've seen the trailer for Black Swan - it looks very intense. I know I'll be watching that one.

I'm hoping "Tangled" formally "Rapunzel" (why they changed the name, I'll never know... ) will be better than the trailer lets on. I'll have to wait until more info is out about it.

I also would like to see Due Date, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Pt. 1 (still need to catch up on the rest of the series a bit), and Tron Legacy (I know it is coming out in December, but though I'd mention it).

Freakonomics and Social Network look interesting too, but I might catch those a bit later.

Definitely "Black Swan", I'm very interested to see how this film will effect Mila Kunis' career. I didn't catch "Book of Eli", how did she do in that?

Unfortunately I don't know much about Mila since until she was casted for "Black Swan" I didn't know who she was. Since then I've seen her in "Max Pain" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". I actually watched "Max Pain" just to see what she was like in a tough girl role like I'm anticipating she will have in "Black Swan". Truth is, I thought she was "ok" in "Max Pain" (probably not her fault, as it was more just what I thought of the movie as a whole), but really liked her as the more light hearted Rachel in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". Still something about her voice just sounds like a person who likes to live a little on the dangerous side, so I too am curious to seeing well she does.

Mila Kunis is such a hottie! Same with Natalie Portman, there seems to be an element of 'Single White Female' in the 'Black Swan'. One wanting to be like the other, but it looks like a good ride to jump on though, nice premise of what you get from seeing the trailer. I would say Mila Kunis was awesome in 'That 70's Show', she was well suited in that. She is a promising actress.

And I can see your views and agree with you Grudge Dawg Marz. Bry Guy, I haven't seen 'Book of Eli' too, which I will very shortly though.

I thought the acting in "Book of Eli" was really great. The story was fairly original, but I felt there was something missing from it to make it something better. Maybe it was the pacing, or the resolution, but something just didn't sit right with me on it.

Cam - I'm hoping 'Black Swan' doesn't get too 'Single White Female' like. What I know of the film is simply what has been publicly released, which seems to have been kept well to maintain the mystery that I'm guessing is important to get the full experiance of it.

I kind of wish less was known, but something has to be revealed to attract viewers.

What interests me is much more the artistry of Ballet being put on film where it can be made 'larger than life', not only truely physically, but also in film's freedom to enhance the dramatic. That wrapped in a story of contracting/complementry personalities, much like a great dance, or classical composition, with a little mystery, and getting into the psych of the performers, it just feels to me like it could be a masterpiece.

AHH..."Black Swan" I'm trying to see this one at the TIFF because I just don't want to wait for December 1,2010 release.

I read a script of this months ago and it's a phenomenal story ...The Trailer is merely teaser and does not begin to address the core story.

Swan Lake is my favorite ballet and that's the draw for me.
To craft Swan Lake into Black Swan is phenomenal storytelling at it's best.

There is defiantly meat here.

I too was pleased to see this trailer up!

Perhaps we can get exclusive behind the scenes after the festival season is done...

Poetically said Grudge Dawg Marz!
Yeah, its definitely going to strike a chord with fanatics of the Ballet World. For some reason it made me feel you would be in love with that movie "The Red Shoes" ... That is a movie I need to go back and revisit.

Hey Jazzy, I hear of people getting to read scripts of movies, doesn't sound like it is a free service, how would one get to read a script?
I have heard people saying how they have managed to read the script before the movie has even been released. So I was just curious.

I just got lucky and ran across someone online who actually had access to a draft copy.I'm working on a book and was spending a lot of time online researching etc...Until I saw that trailer I was not sure if it was authentic but it is.
I suspect an insider got a copy of it early in the process before it was finalized with Aronofsky at the start of the shoot.
I think some things changed however the basic core story is there.
Knowing the story of Swan Lake really helps one understand the this story on a deeper level but it is still very intriguing if you don't.

I don't mind spoilers so reading the script only peaked my interest even more.

Black Swan really was what you'd expect from the Director of The Fountain, and the Wresler. Kind of felt like a fusion of the atristry of The Fountain, with the Grit of the Wresler.

Much like the Wresler Aronofsky didn't mess around with building up a conventional utopian outlook of the charactors before pulling you right into the grit. He build up the emotions he wanted built up quickly, and kept them building though to the finale. Don't think this would have been pulled off with any other actress than Natalie, for the sake of the film I won't repeat the right word to describe it, so I'll settle for Awesome.

Yes, this is what totally I would expect from Darren.

I posted a link where Darren discusses the origins of this story and how it was originally conceived as one story combining the Wrestler and Black Swan. It naturally morphed into two stories.

For Natalie it's one of those roles you dream of because of it's uniqueness.
