Just finished reading an interesting/ambiguous interview over at GQ.com about Bill Murray. What's your take on the man? Think we'll ever see Ghostbusters 3? He talks about it here... |

Bill Murray is God! Need proof? Look no further than 'Larger Than Life.' Despite having one of the lamest/cliched plots of all time Bill Murray still manages to make it funny. Here's the synopsis from IMDB Motovational Speaker Jack Corcoran is determined to get his career off the ground, but the biggest gigs he can get are the ones nobody wants. Then one day, he receives a telegram that his circus clown father has passed away, and has left a "huge" inheritance. When he gets there, he finds that his inheritance has come in the form of a elephant that was his father's pride and joy in circus acts. His main intention is to sell the pacaderm off. Jack must choose between loud and rude zookeeper Mo or attractive animal show owner Terry. As the two trek through the country Jack and the elephant develop a bond, and it changes his approach on life for the better. |

There just wasn't anyone I could think of that could have done that role he does with "Groundhog Day".
I would have to revisit Ghostbusters again, but in his acting he has that deadpan that he can deliver so well. I am a fan of his, but I didn't grow up with his stuff as I know many people like Wes Anderson did. Also I will have to check out 'Larger Than Life', I have not seen that either. |

I heard Harold Ramis' original idea for 'Groundhog Day' was to have Phil Conners repeat the same day for 10,000 years! Have you seen 'The Razor's Edge'? It's a pretty serious role for Bill Murray and I think it actually harmed his career for a bit, I really enjoyed it though. |

Oh I don't believe I have even heard of 'The Razors Edge'.
For some reason, I felt that Wes Anderson was enticing Bill Murray to work with him, coz I thought Bill Murray was off the radar, but I enjoy Wes Anderson movies, and I know he is a fan of Bill Murray, and I think Murray does great work in Anderson movies. You think Gopher, that Wes helped pump life into Bill Murray? Perhaps not, but just my observation. I mean Bill Murray is a big name no-matter what, wether he did Anderson movies or not, but just at the time of his roles in Anderson movies, just felt like Wes Anderson loved putting Murray out there on the big screen, which is great!

On the contrary, 'The Razors Edge' was a great film for Bil Murray, I just don't think people were ready for a non slap-stick Bill Murray at the time. There's a lot of humor in the role but it's a lot dryer than what general audiences are use to I think. Brian-Doyle Murray is in the film as well. |

Must have been like 'Broken Flowers', he played that rather straight. |

I actually haven't seen 'Broken Flowers" yet, would you recommend? Another really interesting role for Mr. Murray was as Hunter S. Thompson in 'Where the Buffalo Play.' Did you catch that one? |

Oh, I never found 'Broken Flowers' a movie I particularly connected with.
Seeing that I have seen it, I found it slightly bordering on depressing.
Alexis Dziena has a scene when she is naked if that helps? I have to be honest, I have never heard of that movie 'Where the Buffalo Play' ... I might find some clips on it on YouTube. |
