synopsis
Director Roland Emmerich's "2012" is an apocalyptic disaster film which stars John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, and Woody Harrelson. 2012 is loosely based on Mayanism, the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, and the 2012 phenomenon which comprises a range of beliefs and proposals based on studies on the end of the world. These theories predict that a catastrophic event will occur on or around December 21st in the year 2012.
