Tom Hooper was born in London, England and studied English at Oxford University. His short filmPainted Faces (92) premiered at the London Film Festival. His television movie Elizabeth I (05) earned him an Emmy Award® for outstanding direction. His other notable television productions include Longford (06) and John Adams (08). His first feature film, Red Dust (04), screened at the Festival as a Gala presentation. It was followed by The Damned United (09), which also screened at the Festival. The King’s Speech (10) is his most recent film.
